Folia is proud to present Viper 사랑해, a generative and interactive artwork by Billy Rennekamp and Joon Yeon Park — available for mint on Tuesday, July 11th at 6PM UTC on viper.folia.app and mint.fun.
486 unique baby vipers will hatch into the world, ready to "bite" other Ethereum addresses.
When a viper bites another Ethereum address, they grow one length longer and each bitten Ethereum address will be marked by a new soulbound NFT. These NFTs cannot be transferred from the "poisoned" victim's wallets, serving as a permanent bite-mark.
In this way, Viper is a spiritual descendent of Kudzu, the first viral NFT.
Like Kudzu, Viper hacks the canonical transferFrom() function of the NFT contract so that instead of transferring the NFT, a new one is minted in the recipient's wallet — spreading the virus and growing the vine.
In Kudzu, this hack is totalizing — NO ONE can move their NFT from their wallet.
However in Viper, there is an exception: owners can transfer or sell their viper NFT using third-party contracts (like OpenSea).
